This fragrant takikomi gohan (Japanese seasoned rice) features sea bream, a traditional symbol of celebration in Japanese culture, carefully cooked in a clay pot. At HAPPO-EN, we use two whole sea bream—one placed atop the rice and one in the broth—to symbolize the union of the couple.
